crossing points - created by
Kathie Schmid AND RABBLE-FISH ENSEMBLE
An original theatrical and musical performance exploring borders using the words of SoCo residents – part of the county-wide Performance Sonoma
festival.
Borders and boundaries create our lives’ vital distinctions. Our original theater piece tells the stories of these edges and perimeters of ourselves, and our personal, cultural and national identities. What happens when these borderlands are crossed… or not?
Rabble-Fish Theater brings together world class performers and musicians from Europe, NY and Sonoma County, to create this new work using the collected words of local residents.
Our artists also cross borders of their disciplines, expanding their usual expression forms. Evocative movement, live music soundscapes and visual images encourage a deeper reflection upon the fluid and fluctuating nature of boundaries and borders in our lives.
Contributing Artists:
Kathie Schmid: actor, writer, director (Sonoma County)
Dirk Rothbrust: percussion (Germany)
Janne Rättyä: accordion (Finland)
Daniel Derdula: performance (Sonoma County)
Gerhard Stäbler: composer (Germany)
Kunsu Shim: composer (Germany)
Jörg Detmold: dramaturge/co-director (Germany)
Rosalie Wardell: photographs/artist (Sonoma County)
Kate Weare: choreography (New York)
Rabble-Fish Theater, founded by Sonoma County actor and artistic director Kathie Schmid, is dedicated to the creation of dynamic, inter-disciplinary theater in Sonoma County through an ongoing collaboration with visionary American and international performing artists.
